Meet Garrett

Garrett Gilcrease is a fifth-generation farmer and agriculture professional based in Lemoore, California.

Garrett is married to Leah, with whom he has shared 15 years of marriage, and they are raising three children: Reid (12), Laine (8), and Paige (6). The family continues to farm the same land aquired by the Gilcrease family through a land patent in 1883—the original document still hangs in Garrett's office.

They grow almonds, grapes, and tomatoes, carrying forward a tradition that began when the family migrated from Missouri in 1882. Raised on the farm with demanding work, Garrett initially wanted no part of agriculture and was ready to pursue other career paths. After graduating from Lemoore High School (Class of 2003), his father Jeff's encouragement led him to pursue higher education even outside of agriculture. But he could not shake his agriculture roots and soon he earned a B.S. in Plant Science from California State University, Fresno (2007) and an M.S. in Agronomy from Iowa State University (2012). He holds professional credentials as a Licensed Pest Control Advisor (PCA #118810) and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA #336680).

Garrett gained valuable experience working as an independent consultant and with Syngenta Crop Protection, where he earned multiple company-wide recognitions. He eventually returned full-time to the family farm to focus on family, hands-on farming, and serving the local agricultural community.

Deeply committed to community leadership, Garrett serves as President of the Kings County Farm Bureau, chairs the Mid Kings River Groundwater Sustainability Agency Grower Advisory Committee, has held roles with CAPCA, Kings Christian School (Financial Chair), and CSU Fresno Ag One (South Kings/Kern County representative).

His family legacy of service includes great-uncle William Asberry “Berry” Gilcrease—a Lemoore High School graduate, long-time Kings County Supervisor for District 1, and internationally known big-game hunter—and father Jeff, with over 40 years on the Central Union Elementary School board. Garrett now runs for District 1 Supervisor to continue this tradition of dedicated public service.

Through generations of farming and active involvement in agriculture and the community, Garrett remains focused on practical solutions, family values, and a strong future for California's Central Valley.
